Helping clients, their families, and the community live changes to the title
David Matarese, CPA/PFS, CFP®, recently completed his term as chair of our Professional Advisory Council (PAC). Here, he shares his thoughts about the Foundation and PAC.
“It’s extremely important for Rhode Island Foundation to get the word out to professional advisors, to communicate not only all the great things the Foundation is doing, but how advisors can incorporate that into their work,” David states.
A partner at Corrigan Financial, Inc. in Middletown, David explains, “We (at Corrigan) are very heavy on family planning and estate planning. We help our clients create financial plans and get a handle on how things look for them. If they have excess wealth, we talk about things like money for their children’s educations and charitable giving. I have several clients who are very involved with Rhode Island Foundation, either through what they are doing now or through their estate plans.”
“We can help clients do well for themselves, their families, and the community.”- David Matarese
David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Fairfield University before beginning work in the accounting field, followed by five years as a finance manager at Citizens Investment Services Corp. He later earned his Master of Business Administration at the University of Rhode Island and worked at KPMG Peat Marwick before joining Corrigan in 2004.
In addition to PAC, David is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Rhode Island, the latter where he served on the board and as president. It was through a presentation made at a FPA of Rhode Island meeting by a Rhode Island Foundation staff member that David learned of the Foundation.
